Ukraine War: Head of Putin UN met in Moscow for an effort to bring peace

Antonio Guterres hopes to talk about what can be done to bring peace to Ukraine immediately during his visit to Moscow. His office is related to the Ukraine government for potential visits, said the UN spokesman.

The Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres will visit Moscow on Tuesday where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as part of his efforts to end the ongoing war in Ukraine, Reuters News.

Guterres will also hold a meeting and lunch with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Guterres hopes to talk about what can be done to bring peace to Ukraine immediately during his visit to Moscow. His office is related to the Ukraine government for potential visits,” said UN spokesman Eri Kaneko.

Guterres’s visit was very important because the war between Russian troops and Ukraine had entered the 58th day.

Earlier that day, Putin spoke with the head of the European Union Charles Michel for developments in Ukraine, AFP reported. The UE boss said he urged the Russian President in telephone calls to allow humanitarian access to Mariupol during the Orthodox Easter.

“Urged strongly for immediate humanitarian access and safe deprivation from Mariapol and other cities that are surrounded more on the occasion of Orthodox Easter” this weekend, Michel said on Twitter after a call.

Ukraine said hundreds of troops and civilians hid in the vast Azovstal steel plants in Mariupol and Kyiv had repeatedly called for a ceasefire to allow women, children and parents safely out of the destroyed city.

Several humanitarian corridors planned to the strategic southeast port city have been summoned at the last minute.

Kremlin has claimed the “liberation” of Mariaupol, whose control is important for his war plan for almost two months after Putin ordered a shock invasion to neighbors leaning in Russia.

This happened when Russia said his conversation with Ukraine had stopped, claiming it did not receive a response from Ukraine to the proposal recently.

“At present, they (talks) have termination, because other proposals we continue to Ukraine negotiator about five days ago, which were compiled with their comments were taken into account, it remained without response,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a press conference.
