Omicron in US: New York sees ‘four fold increase’ in hospitalised children

About half of the receipt is younger than five, the age group that vaccines do not meet the requirements, the department is added.

With omicron cases increased, New York health officials have reported an increase in children being hospitalized, because the White House promised on Sunday to quickly resolve the deficiency of the United States Covid-19 test.

New York’s State Health Department warned “from the trend of rising in pediatric hospitalization related to Covid-19,” in Friday’s statement.

In New York City, it “identified a quadrupled increase in Covid-19 Hospital Admissions for children aged 18 years and down Sunday 5 December through this week,” he said.

About half of the receipt is younger than five, the age group that vaccines do not meet the requirements, the department is added.

The number of Covid-19 cases in the United States increased, with an average of almost 190,000 new infections every day for the past seven days, according to the numbers of Johns Hopkins University.

The arrival of the new Omicron variant is exacerbated by holiday celebrations which usually include travel reunions and families, has caused a rush to test in the United States, where it is difficult to get it in many locations.

US Top Pandemic Advisor Anthony Fauci on Sunday recognizes Covid’s “testing problems” and vowing to make more tests available for Americans next month.

“One of the problems is that it will not be completely available for everyone until we arrive in January and there are still some problems now people who have difficulty tested,” said Fauci told ABC News.

“But we handle testing problems,” he added, said it must be corrected “soon.”

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden announced a raft of new steps because the United States fought with his latest Covid surge, including half-a billion free home tests after Christ tested the crisis.

However, the White House, whose strategy for weeks mainly focuses on vaccination, has faced strong criticism of the fact that many tests will not be available until January.

‘Extraordinarily contagious’

Fauci on Sunday emphasizes that administration increases to overcome the surge and emphasize that omicron “is very contagious.”

Apart from the extraordinary hospital and Covid testing site, the Covid variant has forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights in the United States, when the crew was summoned or had to quarantine after the exposure of the virus.

Recent studies in South Africa and England show that Omicron tends to lead to hospitalization rather than the previous virus strains and that the duration of hospitalization of hospitals and oxygen needs for lower patients, note Fauci.

But he also warned that a clear lower severity of Omicron is likely to be neutralized with how quickly spread.

“The problem we don’t want to be satisfied with … is when you have a high volume of new infection, it might overwrite a decrease in real severity,” said Fauci.
