The US was accused by Russia to fund biological weapons research in Ukraine
Moscow, Russia: Russia on Thursday accused US funding reports into the development of biological weapons in Ukraine, when Moscow increased the campaign to get the control of Ukrainian main cities.
Russian Ministry of Defense spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a television briefing “the purpose of this – and other biological studies funded by the other Pentagon in Ukraine – is to build a mechanism for the quiet deployment of deadly pathogens.”
Konashenkov claims the ministry has obtained documents detailing US military-biological activities in Ukraine, including Ukrainian biomaterial transfers abroad.
He said Washington “plans to conduct research on birds, bat and reptile” pathogens, as well as on African pig fever and anthrax.
“Biolaboratories are established and funded in Ukraine have experimented with a sample of Bat Coronavirus,” added Konashenkov.
Both Washington and Kyiv have denied the existence of laboratories intended to produce biological weapons in the country, who have faced Russian attacks by tens of thousands of troops since February 24.
Russia in 2018 accused the United States secretly carrying out biological experiments in the laboratory in Georgia, another former Soviet Republic, such as Ukraine aims to join NATO and the European Union.
