Putin announces partial mobilisation in Russia, warns West: ‘have weapon .
In a rare speech for the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the decision on the partial mobilization of 2 million strong military reserves had been signed when the war in Ukraine reached almost seven months. The decision, what Putin said was taken “to defend his homeland, sovereignty and territorial integrity” will be seen as escalation by the West.
We talk about partial mobilization, namely, only citizens who are currently in reserves that will be subject to military service, and most importantly, those who serve in the armed forces have certain military specialties and relevant experiences,” Putin said. The move was needed, said Putin, because the incumbent Russia made an urgent decision to protect the people in the “released land”.
Putin’s address to this country came a day after the regions controlled by Russia in East and South Ukraine announced plans to hold a referendum on whether they wanted to be part of Russia.
In the referendum plan in Ukraine, Putin said, “We support these people”, added that he ordered his government to provide legal status to volunteers who fought in Donbas because Russia aimed to free the region.
