“Not our request”: Lata mangeshkar brother in Shivaji Park Memorial Row
Mumbai: Lata’s brother Mangeshkar Hridaynath Mangeshkar said today that his family has nothing to do with a warning request for the legendary singer in Taman Shivaji Mumbai, which has become controversial because of the strong political alternating.
“Please stop politicizing the problem of warning Lata Didi in Shivaji Park. The request for it hasn’t come from our family because we don’t want it,” said Hridaynath Mangeshkar in a strong appeal at Marathi.
Partners of Maharashtra Shiv Sena and BJP’s opposition have fought the warning proposed for Lata Mangeshkar, who died at the age of 92 on February 6.
BJP MLA RAM Kadam has written to the Head of Maharashtra Minister Uddhav Thackeray demanded a warning in Shivaji Park, where Lata Mangeshkar was cremated on Sunday. The request was supported by the Head of the Maharashtra Congress Nana Patole, Ally of Shiv Sena in the Alliance of Maha Vikas Aghadi.
The BJP request places Sena Shiv in a narrow place because the party has an emotional connection to a 28-acre public park. Uddhav Thackeray’s father and the founder of Sena Sena Bal Thackeray traditionally held a annual dussehra party rally in the park. The minister’s chairman continued the tradition.
Leader of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Sandeep Deshpande said small politics should not be played in this matter. “Dadar residents have struggled to protect the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park from encroachment. I asked everyone not to sacrifice the Shivaji Park for their small party politics,” Dishpande said in a tweet.
Head of Vanchit Head of Vanchit Aghadi (VBA) Prakash Ambedkar refused a request that said that the warning must be built in accordance with the housing provided to the Mangeshkar Lata. “We all spent our childhood in Shivaji Park and we need to preserve the land that has produced legendary Cricketers,” Ambedkar said about the park, also known as the Cradle of Cricket in India.
The Maharashtra government has decided to establish an international level music academy in Kalina in Mumbai which is spread in 2.5 hectares as award for the Lata Mangeshkar. The academy will be built at a cost of ₹ 1,200 Crore.
“The music academy is the best award for Lata Didi,” her brother said, supporting the state government’s decision.
