Jammu And Kashmir To Host G-20 Summit Next Year
JAMMU: In a major development, Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 G-20 Meeting, an influential grouping that unites the world’s main economy, with the Government of Thursday’s Unity in the Establishment of the Five Members’ High Level Committee for overall overall coordination.
This will be the first major international summit held in Jammu and Kashmir after the special status of the state guaranteed based on article 370 of the constitution was withdrawn and divided into two union regions in August 2019.
In September last year, the Minister of Trade and Industry Union Piyush Goyal was appointed as India Sherpa for the G20. The external ministry has said that India will hold the G20 president starting December 1, 2022, and will hold the G20 Leader Summit in 2023 for the first time.
According to the official order issued here on Thursday, the Secretary of the Head of the Housing and Urban Development Department of the Union will be the Chairperson of the Committee formed in response to the June 4 Communication from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Sanctions hereby are given to the Constitution of the Committee … to coordinate the overall G-20 meeting to be held in the J&K Union region, “ordered issued by the Main Secretary, Department of General Administration, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi. Committee including Secretary of Commissioners (Transportation), Secretary Administration (Tourism), Secretary of Administration (Hospitality and Protocol) and Secretary of Administration (Culture).
“Furthermore, the main secretary for the government, the Department of Housing and Urban Development was also nominated as UT level nodal officials to coordinate the arrangements for the G-20 meeting in the J&K Union region,” the order said.
Prime Minister Modi has led the Indian representative at the G20 Summit since 2014. India has been a member of the G20 since it was founded in 1999.
According to MEA, India will be part of the Troika G20 (the previous G20 president, at this time, and entered) from December 1, 2021 to 30 November 2024.
The G20 unites the 19 leading economic economies and the European Union, with its members to contribute more than 80 percent of global GDP, 75 percent of global trade and 60 percent of the global population, according to AEC.
Emplisters are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Britain and the United States.
