Industrialist Anand Mahindra is known for sharing inspiring and interesting positions on Twitter – and his last is no different. Thursday, the President of the Mahindra group shared a video of Kalaripayattu of nine years, an ancient form of martial art from the modern Kerala. Kalaripayattu, also known as Kalari, uses sticks, swords, shields and daggers and is considered the oldest surviving martial art of India. Designed for the former battlefield, this martial art system attaches great importance to weapons-based techniques.
In Anand Mahindra’s video, we see the child manipulating a long stick with a facility practiced while playing Kalaripayattu. Some in the Comments section identified him like Neelakandan Nair, a student from the Kerrala Kalaripayattu Academy.
“Warning: Do not go into the path of this young woman!” Anand Mahindra wrote by sharing the video, erroneous the kind. He also stated that Kalaripayattu deserved more attention in the sports sphere, adding that martial art could have global attention.
