Delhi: Omicron Found in 97 PC samples taken from patients who have died from Jan to March
Ninety-seven percent of samples were taken from those who died because Covid in Delhi from January to March had an Omicron Coronavirus variant, according to government data.
The genome sequencing of 578 samples collected from the deceased showed 560 of which had an Omicron variant.
The remaining 18 (three percent) had another variant of Covid-19, including Delta, which triggered a wave of ferocious second infections in April and May last year, and sub-lineage.
Overall, the Omicron variant was found in all 504 samples analyzed at the genome sequencing laboratory in the capital in March.
The third wave of infections driven by omicron variants see lower hospitalization and severe cases in the national capital and government data show viruses are not the main reason in most deaths.
A maximum of 2,784 (17.96 percent) of 15,505 covid-19 beds in hospitals were occupied on January 17. During the second wave, 20,117 (92 percent) from 21,839 beds were occupied on May 6.
Delhi once again looked at Spurt in the number of infections, with experts connecting it with a large number of people who did not follow the appropriate Covid behavior, including mask masks.
Given the surge in cases, the Delhi government on Wednesday made the use of mandatory masks in public places and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on violators.
Officials said Delhi disaster management authorities, in his meeting also decided not to close the school, but chose to produce separate standard operating procedures in consultation with experts.
Delhi has also started the sequencing of the sample genome from all the people infected with Covid in the capital to ascertain whether the new variant, such as the XE variant, has spread in the city.
