Will ‘House of Gucci’ be on Netflix?
One of the 32021 winter films which was warmly anticipated was the House of Gucci which was also very led to taking several major awards in Oscar next year. Film released in theaters on November 24 but will come to Netflix on the road? It seems but it will depend on where you live. This is the reason.
Directed by Ridley Scott, a new biopics film based on the 2001 book that itself is based on famous fashion families.
Among the cast for film was Lady Gaga, the driver of Adam, Jared Leto, and Jeremy Irons.
Where will Gucci house flow in the United States?
All the theater releases for Gucci’s house adhere to traditional windows which means that the film will not flow in streaming up to several points (possibly summer) in 2022.
MGM and United Artists releasing do not have the first window transaction with the main streamer besides Epix (which it has). That’s where all the films from MGM headed to the first window but as soon as he departed Epix, usually only available to buy through VOD service which means you have to pay to rent or have.
In addition, starting from 2021, all MGM films will also head to Paramount + in an expanded agreement signed at the beginning of 2021. According to the report:
“The new MGM movie will continue to be available first in the exclusive paid television window with EPIX, before it is available in both Paramount + and Epix.”
Long term, with the upcoming MGM of US sales to Amazon, we suspect this film will become a permanent resident of the main video but until then, you have to wait until 2022 to be dropped on Epix.
In the US, then there is no gucci house that will not be on Netflix.
Will House of Gucci is in Netflix internationally
Outside the United States is a different story. This film is not distributed by MGM and instead is set to be distributed by Universal Pictures which does have a broad agreement with Netflix which usually sees movies coming to Netflix right after the first window.
Some examples of films released in the US by MGM and Universal International include the 2019 Addams family and crowds. Recently, Universal released time to die and respect. There are several occasions where Lionsgate handles the British distribution but it doesn’t happen with the House of Gucci.
Areas such as Netflix UK and Canada have received over the past few years new universal films about 2 years after the release of their theater. Hustle for example added to Netlfix Canada on August 6, 2021 after the premiere in theaters in 2019.
So that means if you live in England, Canada, or most European countries, you must see the House of Gucci arrive at Netflix at a certain point in 2023.
