Prosecutors Seek 4 Years In Prison For Wife Of Mexican Drug Lord El Chapo
Prosecutors on Thursday asked the judge to punish the wife of Kingpin Mexican drugs who were imprisoned known as “El Chapo” up to four years behind the bar after he pleaded guilty of the distribution of drugs and money laundering charges.
Emma Coronel Aispuro, a former teen beauty of the Queen who married Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera at the age of 17, also had to lose $ 1.5 million which was bound by his criminal activity, the prosecutor said in the sentence filed in the US District Court for the Columbia District .
Coronel Aispuro, 32, pleaded guilty in June to three accusations of conspiring to distribute illegal drugs, conspire by washing money and enaging in financial transactions with the Sinaloa Narcotics cartel.
He faced punishment on November 30.
As part of his request agreement with the prosecutor, Coronel Aispuro also admitted acting as a courier between Guzman and other members of the Sinaloa cartel when he was detained at Prison Altiplano Mexico after the 2014 arrest after the 2014 arrest.
